What is Corrugated?
Corrugated fibreboard is a material consisting of a fluted corrugated sheet and one or two flat linerboards. It is widely used for making shipping containers and packaging materials due to its strength and lightweight properties.
Composition:
Outer Liner: The outer facing layer providing a smooth surface for printing.
Flute: The middle wavy layer that provides cushioning and strength.
Inner Liner: The inside facing layer that adds structural integrity.
Usage: The everyday corrugated box is most commonly used as a shipping box. Its walls provide much-needed protection from rough handling
Board Types
Single Face
One linerboard with a single fluted medium, used for protective wrapping.
Single Wall
Two linerboards with one fluted medium, most commonly used.
Double Wall
Three linerboards with two fluted mediums, used for heavy-duty packaging
Triple Wall
Four linerboards with three fluted mediums, used for extremely heavy or fragile items.
What is Flute?
Flute, also known as corrugation, is designed to enhance the strength and rigidity of the cardboard used in packaging. These flutes appear as wavy lines that, when adhered to a paperboard, create a corrugated board. The fluting provides structural integrity, enabling the packaging to resist crushing forces.
